1. UPDATE — Dec. 8, 7 p.m. ET:

2. The pod of 51 pilot whales were first spotted stranded in three feet of water at Everglades National Park on Tuesday and by Wednesday many of the whales had died.

3. The group was then spotted Friday about five nautical miles offshore, moving inshore and in a southward direction.

4. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Sunday that 11 more whales had been found dead, bringing the total to 22.

5. Pilot whales travel in close-knit pods and it is not uncommon for more than one to get stranded, according to the Associated Press.

Blair Mase, a spokeswoman for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, says four of the pilot whales were euthanized Wednesday. Six others had already died. Rescuers have been trying to coax the whales into deeper waters with little success. Nearly four dozen whales had been stranded in about 3 feet of water.

6. Scientists say the whales appear confused and are working to determine a cause.

They were reportedly swimming slowly and in a disorganized fashion, which could have suggested exhaustion, dehydration or malnutrition, according to NOAA.

It has been just about six months since Kim Kardashian was infamously robbed at gunpoint in her apartment in Paris, an event that understandably was a whirlwind for the mega-star.

Noticeably disappearing from social media for weeks afterwards, and only recently revealing more details on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim sat down with family friend Ellen DeGeneres to talk about the aftermath and how its changed her life.

Her biggest takeaway from the experience? Everything happens for a reason.

Kim told Ellen,

I know this sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me. I dont want to start crying, but I know that was so meant to happen to me. Im such a different person. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things.

She went on to explain how in the past, she would proudly show off the material items she knows she has worked hard for and being careful to distinguish there is nothing wrong with that kind of attitude says its just not a priority of hers anymore.

I was definitely materialistic before, not that theres anything bad with having things and working hard to get those things and Im really proud of everyone around me thats successful. But, Im so happy that my kids get this me and that this is who Im raising my kids [to be]. Because I just dont care about that stuff anymore, I really dont.

Additionally, Kim revealed that in speaking with authorities, she learned a great deal more about the robbers themselves.

Mainly, they had been monitoring and following the reality star and her jewelry for a shocking two years.

Its not to say that Ill never wear jewelry again or anything like that. I truly dont know if Id ever feel comfortable, I truly dont know if Id ever wear real jewelry again. My whole life has changed in terms of how I travel

Since the horrific incident, Kim and her whole family have upticked their security, and Kim now sleeps with multiple security guards outside of her bedroom.

Incredibly, Kim also described some of the clarity she had during the actual robbery, and how she was able to pray and find acceptance in the fact she could potentially die.

I knew that was it for me. Hundred percent. I said a prayer, Im like, I know Im going to heaven. I hope my kids are OK, my husband [Kanye West] I dont want to cry, youre making me cry. But it does happen really fast. It was a good seven or eight minutes of torture, but when I look back and analyze it, Im like, OK, they werent really aggressive. It could have been way worse.

Kim, youve got this.

We wish her continued health, happiness and peace.

At The Open Book, in Wigtown, Scotland, you can fulfill your dream of running a bookstore. The unique Airbnb flat costs just 57 USD a night, but it comes with a stipulation: renters also work at the bookshop on the first floor, doing everything that a regular bookshop owner might do.

“This project started about two years ago,” the owners told Bored Panda. “We wanted a way for people to experience the dream of having their own bookshop by the sea in Scotland (who doesn’t fantasize about that?), without making a huge commitment. We though creating a bookshop holiday was the answer.|

Have you ever dreamt of having your own bookstore?

“How much you work, or IF you work, is really up to you,” Open Book told Bored Panda

The second floor flat can comfortably accommodate two visitors

“All of our guests are beautifully unique, with their own stories to share”

“One of my favourites was a couple in their 80’s, who came to The Open Book for their honeymoon”

Come make your dream a reality!

A new species of spider has been discovered in Morocco, and it’s quite the gymnast. Cebrennus rechenbergi, which lives in the sand desert Erg Chebbi, is the first species of spider documented to project itself across the sand through cartwheel-like motions. The discovery has been published in the journal Zootaxa.

A similar tumbleweed style spider has been previously described, the golden rolling spider, but this spider is restricted in its agility since it is only able to roll down hills. The arachnid acrobat C. rechenbergi in contrast can propel itself off the ground and initiate “flic-flac” jumps that allow it to travel both along flat ground and uphill. Impressively, this bizarre skill allows the spider to move twice as fast as if it were walking, around two meters per second, and uses it as a getaway card when potential predators approach.

This intriguing spider is also quite the architect; it uses its silk threads to build tubular structures in the sand that protect it from the blaring sun and predators.

This spider appears very similar to another species in found in Tunisia called Cebrennus villosus, but spider expert Dr. Peter Jäger was able to deduce that they were indeed different species since they possessed slight differences in their sex organs. “However, the unique mode of locomotion also serves as a criterion to distinguish the species,” says Dr. Jäger.

The discoverer of the spider, bionics expert Ingo Rechenberg, was so impressed by this springy arachnid that he used it as inspiration for a new robot which has been named “Tabbot” after the Berber word for spider, Tabacha. This robot can both walk and somersault along surfaces, and Rechenberg believes that it may be a useful style of locomotion for robots used to explore the bottom of the sea or even Mars.

Check out a YouTube video of the spider and robot in action here (unfortunately the audio is in German):

1. When you first go to Tim Allen’s website, you are greeted by this picture of him and his guns.

2. Take a look around; maybe click on the tab that says “Journal Entries.”

Here you’ll find Tim Allen’s deepest, innermost thoughts.

3. But there’s so much to do on this website, so don’t stop there.

4. Maybe head over to his “Interest in Quantum Physics” page.

This is where you’ll get answers to many very quantum physics-y questions like, “What’s a table made out of?”

5. He’ll give you bad news, but it’s all part of the process.

6. Now scoot on over to his art page, where he displays his VERY OWN ART!

7. Like this piece:

8. And this one:

9. If you are more of a community-minded person, please be sure to stop by the idea exchange portion of the website.

10. This is where you can, wait for it — exchange ideas! Like ideas about men and women and stuff.

11. Next please visit the current photos…where the most current photo is from 2010, so — SURPRISE! You’ve also just time-traveled. This may have something to do with the quantum physics.

12. Now maybe you’ll want to go to the video page, where you can watch old, fun videos like this one:

Former presidential candidate Roseanne Barr makes a cameo.

13. Make sure to choose Hi-band or Lo-band from your dial-up computer.

14. Well, that’s it for our tour. Bye!

Thank you to the wonderful people at Uproxx and Videogum for finding this gem.

In this travel video tour of Portland, Oregon, I travel to Portland, one of the most unique cities in the United States.

I started my trip off by hopping off a plane and then immediately hopping onto a bus. But not just any bus, a bus operated by Brewvana Brewery Tours, the mostly women-run craft beer brewery tour company. Portland, or know as Beervana to some, is home to 55 breweries within its borders, and is truly a beer-lover's paradise. On my tour we made stops at Rogue Ales & Spirits, Laurelwood Pubic House & Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery and Sidecar Bar, where I had the chance to sit down over a pint with the founder and owner of Brewvana, Ashley Rose Salvitti.

While in Portland, I stayed at the Tiny House Hotel, a hotel made up of, you guessed it, tiny houses. In the next portion of my video guide I give a tour of my "crib" to show what it's like to live and stay in a tiny house.

Then, in an effort to get a chance to experience the famed brunch scene in Portland, I stopped in at The Tin Shed Garden Cafe, located down the street from where I was staying in the New Alberta Arts District.

In the interest of learning more about food, I headed to the downtown location of the Portland Farmers Market, located in a beautiful stretch of downtown Portland. Here, I got a tour of the grounds with Mona Johnson, then had the opportunity to meet up with some of the vendors, including Matt Choi of Choi's Kimchi Company, and famed chef and artisanal pickle impresario, David Barber of Picklopolis and Bingo! Sandwiches.

In need of a little peace and serenity, I then visited the Lan Su Chinese Garden, a peaceful and beautiful oasis in an otherwise busy and hectic part of downtown.

When visiting Portland, there's no reason to spend all your time in the city, especially with so much to do outside the city limits. The next day I took a road trip with local Matthew Domingo to explore the Columbia River Gorge and the numerous trails and waterfalls just off the road you can check out.

Then, to wrap things up, we stopped in at Hood River Organic near the riverside town of Hood River, an organic orchard and farm run by East Coast ex-pat Dan Thall, who gave us a tour of his land. Once the day ended we then headed out to happy hour at Solera Brewery in the imposing shadow of Mount Hood and then into town for a dinner featuring mushroom pizza with mushrooms Dan had grown and recently delivered to the restaurant.
